MONEL 400(UNSN04400) Sheet / Plate
Nickel-Copper Alloy for Seawater, Hydrofluoric Acid & Reducing Media Service
MONEL 400 sheet and plate is a nickel-copper solid-solution alloy (UNS N04400) recognized for excellent corrosion resistance in seawater, brackish water, hydrofluoric acid, and many reducing chemicals. It combines good strength and toughness across a wide temperature range and is commonly used for chemical processing equipment, marine structures, and heat-exchanger components.
As a professional Chinese nickel-based alloy manufacturer, we supply MONEL 400 sheet and plate with stable chemistry, consistent mechanical properties, and flexible dimensional customization for global industrial users.
Typical supply range (custom sizes and tolerances available upon request):
Item | Range / Options | Notes |
Thickness | 0.5 – 50 mm | Sheet typically ≤ 6 mm; Plate typically ≥ 6 mm (project-defined). |
Width | Up to 2000 mm | Slitting available; define tolerance if critical. |
Length | Up to 6000 mm | Cut-to-length (shearing) by agreement; define tolerance if critical. |
Surface finish | 2B / No.1 / BA / Polished | PVC protective film optional for surface-critical parts. |
Edge | Mill edge / Slit edge | Deburring / edge conditioning available. |
Flatness / tolerance | Per ASTM/EN or as agreed | Define flatness for welded assemblies and heat exchangers. |
Delivery condition | Annealed (standard) | Pickled/bright depending on thickness/finish. |
Dimension definition: THK × WIDTH × LENGTH.
• Excellent corrosion resistance in flowing seawater and brackish water
• Outstanding resistance to hydrofluoric acid (HF) across wide concentrations
• Good resistance to alkalis, neutral salts, and many reducing media
• Resistant to stress corrosion cracking in most fresh and industrial waters
• High strength and toughness; remains ductile at subzero temperatures
• Can be strengthened by cold working; good fabrication and weldability

MONEL 400 | ≥63.0 | 28.0–34.0 | ≤2.50 | ≤2.00 | ≤0.50 | ≤0.30 | ≤0.024 | — |
Alloy 400 is a Ni-Cu solid-solution alloy (non age-hardenable) that can only be strengthened by cold working; controlled chemistry supports stable corrosion performance.
Property | Value |
Tensile Strength (Rm) | ≈ 517–620 MPa (annealed) |
Yield Strength (Rp0.2) | ≈ 172–345 MPa (annealed) |
